cleaning glass

hahha go salty.

I have seen all the other scrapers and even used a razor blade attached to the PVC pipe thing cause I was too cheap to try the $20 scraper that you glue to the mag float.

I posted a pic earlier of the float scraper out of the tank but I think it is worth posting again with it in the tank.

I just did the scraping of the front and sides which I usually do once a week to scrape off coralline. The razor blade on a stick and plastic handled metal blade use to take about 20 minutes and the skimmer would lose it's foam head for about 2 hours because of my hand being in the tank.

Now my hand never goes in the tank and it takes about 5 minutes.

Do you guys LFS's not carry these scrapers?

You just don't get the fine-tuned control with those. For me, it was too easy to strip up the silicone seams, which is why I don't use them anymore. Plus you can't get it in intricate spots, especially when corals start growing thickly. Not that I have that problem anymore, lol.

Yeah, I have hit the silicone with this and the other kind of scrapers. I am just a lot more careful now with any scraper.

I actually did more damage to the seals with using a handle scraper since I was having to reach over the top and couldn't see very well what I was doing.
