cleaning problems

instead of disturbing the plecos just move the rock over to one side of the tank and change the gravel out on the empty side. when done, move the rock over to the new sand side and repeat on the other side of the tank. as long as the plecos' hidey hole is always underwater, you can do a few water changes during the process to keep the tank from clouding up too much. this worked for me on the few occasions i've had to change substrate.

I haven't seen any of my plecos for a few days now which is making me a little nervous. Is it normal for them to stay hidden for this long?

depending on the species they may prefer to be active during the night. have you tried viewing your tank at night with a red lens flashlight?

If you provide hiding places when it comes to Plecos then more than likely you will not see your fish too much as for me i hardly see my BN Plecos that much..

Mine tend to stay hidden 75% or so of the day. I find them either on the underside of rocks or another darker area of the tank just hangin' out.
