Cleaning tanks while pregnant?

the only things i have ever seen as far as cautions for pregnant women around fish tanks start with "well, I heard" or "my friend told me"..

instant discredit.

You have a Python no problem....biggest issue might be lifting buckets if doing water changes that way. Those links you gave are a bunch of whacko-s...

Well... you're not supposed to lift anything heavy when pregnant in the latter stages- so use smaller containers or a hose to refill. Get hubby to haul the water out.

And... you may need to stand sideways to the tank when cleaning it when you get to the 9th month.

... and if you get cravings for fish, shrimp, or snails... STEP AWAY FROM THE TANK!

:iagree:

9 children ago...

Grandchildren on the way :perv:

Best wishes,
Wes

i cleaned tanks, with both pregnancies...no issues involving fish:) just wash your hands when your done! ( which, everyonealready knows!) Good luck!

women in southeast asia have been pregnant and giving birth while working in the rice patties for centuries with relatively no problems.

I would say a nice home aquarium is going to be WAAAAAY cleaner than that.

WOW! That's job dedication! :raspberry:

I feel alright about it now. I had the feeling that the opinions on those sites weren't based on solid information.

The only other thing not mentioned is the use of chemical additives. If you have cuts, cover against water contact and wash thoroughly after use. But to be sure, just have hubby add it.

After my recent surgery, I maintained my tanks in spite of having several areas still open to the air. I had no infections due to it.

I also had tanks while wife was pregnant and she never had any problems nor did the fetus.

Good luck Tay!!

As everyone has said, there should be no problem. I cleaned tanks while pregnant ;)
