I have a problem cleaning my glass. I damp up a paper towel and wipe the glass then dry the glass with a dry paper towel but no matter how much I dry or wipe it leaves streak marks. Is there a way to clean the glass without getting these streak marks? Also it's a new aquarium so there's no preceding scum on the glass or anything, the smearing is comming solely from drying the glass with my paper towel.

You're talking about the outside right? Just use windex, if you have an open top put a thick towel (like a bath towel) over the top so you don't get anything in it. But if you have a top, don't worry.
Be very, very, very, very careful if using windex to not get it in the tank. I wasn't so careful once and ended up with a severe case of "the death," which ravaged almost everything.
Anywho... a trick I learned years ago is to replace using that paper towel with standard coffee filters. Yes, that's right and I haven't gone completely crazy yet. I can't explain why it works, and of course it takes several coffee filters to equal the surface area of a paper towel. However, it works and I don't get any streaks.

Either use vinegar or spray windex on a paper towel in a different room and use that. No need to cover the tank then.

Windex works fine. Just spray the paper towel or newpaper with the windex and then wipe. Don't spray the tank glass.
vinegar and newspaper works great...remember to keep wiping with a dry piece until you see no more moisture.
I use windex and honestly I just spray the glass. I do have a covered tank, I just make sure that I am aiming down when I spray it. Haven't killed any fish yet.
