Cleaning used Gravel

What is the best way to disinfect used gravel? I have heard a bunch of ideas, but I am not sure which is the best to get rid of any possible bacteria.

Rinsing with a 1:20 bleach:water mix usually works. You might add a little more bleach if you're really trying to get it clean.

I prefer using OxiClean, as it rinses away more easily.

careful with that bleach ratio, i did a 1:25 bleach on my jet black rocks and ended up with a bucket of offish grey...looks like slate now though. Even some of the "natural" rocks are either colorized that way or will bleach out some. I second the oxy clean idea.

I've always just poured and soaked in boiling water, good enough IMO

I'll second RTR's Oxyclean suggestion. Its a good cleaner, rinses very easily and does not smell as strongly as bleach.

chlorine and fish do not mix!!!! If you go with bleach follow up with soaking in freshwater treated with a dechlorinator over night. I like the idea of boiling the gravel. Just my .02

I think I will boil it. What about cleaning a tank?
