Clown loach behaviour question!

Hi

Have had clown loaches before. I bought 3 last week around 2" to 3" each. 2 of them since adding them to my tank are always out and about and acting like they do but the third loach has not been seen since i added him to the tank. I have searched for him but to no avail.
Is it just possible he is a very shy one or he's still getting used to his new environment? Or do you think it may be something more serious?

Cheers

hey there..

i just bought 2 clown loaches a week ago..
they are very active but there are parts of the day when both of them or one of them would be missing..
the first time i noticed this i kinda panicked thinking that they cud haved escaped the tank..

i found their hiding place though.. a very small crack at my centerpiece w/c is actually a wall/group of poles:ruins type

from what i read in some websites (forgot the url), they say clown loaches do like caves and places to hide and can be very shy..
most of them however learn how to come out of these hiding places once they get accustomed to their surroundings..

as for my clown loaches.. i think i only see them when they are looking for food or when they want to swim/school with my tiger barbs
they also come out when i come near the tank, probably thinking that i'd drop some food..

are there lots of possible hiding places in ur tank?
maybe u just have to be patient..

wait for other's responses though..

Yup, they probably are just hiding. I had a couple about 6 months ago that i didnt see for like 3 days!!! i thought he was dead, but then he came out one time, then i stayed and watched him and he went into this cave with my dario boata. clown loaches are great fish, esp if you have a school of them. the only problem is their size, so if you're someone like me who cant have a huge tank, you probably can only keep a couple. don;t worry though, like i said, they are probably just hiding out.

Hi

Yep, they are back. They have a hiding place somewhere in thre tank but i still have no idea where. I guess this is one of the reasons why i like this fish so much....mysterious!
