Cloudiness in the Water

Hello All,
Does anyone here have any experience with a brand of substrate called "Flourite/Black Sand"? I put some in a nano (6-gal) five days ago and the water still looks unbelievably cloudy. I turned off the filter (don't worry, no fish in there) in hopes that the lack of water motion would help settle things down, but no help. Is it just a matter of waiting, or is there some super-substrate-zen-juju I may be missing? Any advice is deeply appreciated. Thank you!

I rinse all my substrates before adding. Even the nutrient rich stuff. Just do it less for Fluorite and such. I haven't used that brand. I think that's probably the product name though.

A water change will help, then put some fine floss or cotton in your filter and it will go away in a day or two.

Might be new tank syndrome? I didn't rinse my flourite black sand and the tank was only cloudy for a few hours.

how much is the flow, and how old is the filter media?
new filter media without carbon takes longer to clean the cloudy water.
