cloudy water?

is there anything to make this happen faster than what it is doin because im going on a week with this cloudy water and i really dont like it. the tank shows no sign of improvement. thank you

The bacteria that will eventually become your Bio-Filter are not free swimming and have nothing to do with the cloudy water. Nor will the white cloud attach itself to something and “go away”.

Usually there are two primary reasons for “white water” in a new tank. The first would be dust and dirt particles so fine that your filter will not filter them out and they keep circulating and reflecting light, that is why they are white. They will eventually precipitate out and be vacuumed out or filter out when they start to naturally stick together and become larger particles. The second is a bloom of bio organisms “loosely translated as bacteria” which can show up anytime really, but will disappear when whatever is providing the fuel is consumed. Neither of these “white clouds" are harmful to your tank, just annoying until they go away.

The chemical you are using is designed to make the particles stick together, become larger, and thereby help the filter with larger clumps. The problem here is that these agents are short acting and break down releasing the small particles back into the water column.

Patience or a Diatom Filter are the solution.

but if i am taking the filters out and cleaning them every day and useing the crystal clear will it have enogh time to break down an recurculate back through the tank? im just really tired of looking at acloudy tank. will water changes help at all. i normally do a water change once a week and vacum the gravel. thank you

ok so just did water change, when it clears up how will i know that my biological filter is active? and at that point can i go back to doing water changes only once a week? thanx

ok just got home and after the water change last night the water is even more cloudy than it was, im gonna do 50% tonite and see what happens. is there a product to help start the bio filtration?

do you think that if i take the filter element out of my tank that is already set up and clear and put it in the cloudy tank that the bio filter will start faster and clear my tank up? thanks
