I have a 65 gallon tank that has been set up since may. I got home a while ago to find its water cloudy (whitish). Ammonia and Nitrites are zero. What is it?

it is a bacteria bloom im pretty sure
there is stuff to fix it

Have you added more fish recently, done an estra good job cleaning, changed any filter material, used medications? There are lots of resons why this will happen, some are iknown, some are unknown. Just be patient and this will go away on its own. Happy Fishkeeping!

well, not that you mention, yes, I usually do 25% water changes twice a week, but this week I did almost 50% three days in a row because of high nitrates. Could that be the reason? Today's regular cleaning day, is it OK to do it?

Yea i wuld go ahead and clean it. Do you have any plants in your tank, this would be a good way to reduce nitriates. The bactria will eventually settle. You may want to look at how you feed your fish or what kind of fish or how many fish you have for nitrates to build up that fast seeing how you are doing an accumalative 50 percent water change every week. In other words why were your nitrates so high when you changes 50 percent of the water per week? Just a thought. Happy fishkeeping!!
