Cloudy Water

will do with the filter media, do you think I should add the mag drive pre-filter sponge to my return pump... I see you can buy them but not sure if i need or want one. Dont want to slow my return pump down at all, so not sure if i want it or need it...
 
i would just stick with using the filter media, that way, it cost nearly nothing and a couple of days of running your gonna be able to see if it makes any difference..If it does, i would leave the media in there for afew weeks to make sure the water column is clean..

perhapps added flow stirring up sand?
i'm jsut wondering what caused it, weather it is some percipitate or something else.
anyways, the spounge is worth a shot.
 
I think I figured out what made the cloudy water... I did a fish less cycle with 7 fresh shrimp from the store. When I removed them yesterday the bag was empty.... lol they must have decayed completely lol. O well... it looked better yesterday when i went home so I am not worried anymore...

it could be/been a precipitation event. if your mag. alk or ph is off that can effect how much calc your system can absorb. if you but in more calcium (i.e. BUFFERS to help calcium levels, adjust ph and ph alkalinity) than your tank can absorb, BOOM instant calcium fog.

just from the pics and the fact your system is young id say your looking at millions of tiny pieces of calcium.

happened to my tank the frst time i buffed my ALK.
scared the crap out of me, i thought my mantis died and was rotting.

after a manic WC and about 18 hours my tank looked better than ever.
