Hi all,

Im new to marine (going to look at buying a setup tomorrow), and have a question about Clown fish.

I have seen the orange and white clowns (nemo style!) and have also seen a back and white version.

My question is, what is their proper names and can they be put together in the same tank?
How big do clowns grow?

Thanks in advance,
Lee.

Commonly, there are a few differnet variants of clowns that people keep in their aquariums..Here is s quick run down of their names...

Generally, mising clown fish in smaller tanks is not good because they will be a little defensive over their territory..Large tanks like 60 odd plus you can get away with it a little more...

How big they grow is all depending on their type, anything up to around 4 inches or more..

Hope that helps

Niko

I have seen the orange and white clowns (nemo style!) and have also seen a back and white version.

Around here Nemo is A. percula (although the external visual differences between A. percula and A. ocellaris can be quite subtle), but I guess that sort of depends on what store you go to and say you'd like to buy fish like Nemo.

Black and white clowns are a color variant of A. ocellaris. We have a pair of them and they are great. A bit more expensive than their orange and white cousins, but very cool nonetheless. They even host in our frogspawn and hammer corals.
