I bought one, how often do they need to eat, i feed my clown omega flakes in the morning and then frozen food at night which the goby ate. so itd be once a day at this point.. i rearanged my rocks again too.. they to be big i cant stand it

i plan on buying the 29gallon biocube by the end of summer also, but before that im buying a purple fungia a yellow fiji leather and the double headed green duncan is on sale this week so im ordering one of those

Most fish it is typical to feed only once a day at most. Only a few fish require small multiple feedings a day.

If your rock is too big and you can take it out without hurting corals then just take a hammer and chisel to the rock where you want to break it. Live rock, because of its porous nature, actually breaks very easily and usually just one whack with a hammer and chisel will crack it.

Wow really? does that mean i can feed the tank at like 5? midday with frozen food? and when i am lazy with omega flakes?

omg that sounds so good. two of my fricken rocks are boulders!

I feed my main tank once a day at around 7pm with a variety of foods, but my 29G I usually just feed flake, and only a pinch once a day.. actually quite often I miss a day and end up only feeding them about 4-5 days out of the week.

I used to overfeed a ton, but I had a sump on my 29G at the time and I did 5G a day water changes.. now, no sump and weekly waterchanges using old water out of my 75G so I definately don't take care of it like I used to... but it is a thriving little reef anyway, softies, an LPS, and a couple SPS corals all doing fine in that tank even with my neglect. I threw in some accidental SPS frags out of my 75G just to see what would happen to them in my 29G.. to my suprise they encrusted and actually are growing, although quite a bit more slowly than in my 75G.

sounds good i just have a cooler of RO in my room and with my new sunpod i do daily top off with it and then weekly water changes. i wish i could tell which corals i could keep close and which ones i cant.. also i want to get them to stay on verticalrocks? is there a paste for that?
im nervous about sps, ive taken quite the the fancy to leathers to be honest.. theres only a few sps that interest me!

Well, if leathers are your thing, then stick with leathers. Everyone has their preference with corals.. in the beginning, for me, I thought SPS corals were just "fancy sticks" and didn't see the facination at all.. after 7 years of softy/LPS corals though I got an itch to do something different, and it was like crack... SPS coral that is. I spent more $ in the last year on SPS corals and keeping their requirements good than I did the previous 7 years combined. Plus, a clown goby will kill SPS corals pretty quickly.. it won't kill a leather.

Honestly.. leathers and SPS corals don't really go together well.. if a leather got stung by an SPS coral it could foul up your tank quickly and kill a bunch of stuff... really not worth the risk for "fancy sticks" at this point IMO.

honestly man i want sump tank set up but i dont have the money to spend on the stuff

TheSunpod i bought is a huge chunk of funds i would need. and i already have a 25 gal tank could be used as a sump.

but the other equipment would cost so much more.. my lfs guy said hed even help me out

Ya know what im gonna start a thread on this
