Clown loach changed to nocturnal?

I have had two clown loaches in a community tank for over a year, all fish doing well. The loaches had always been very active, swimming at all levels, together. For over a month now, though, there is only one that is usually out during daylight hours (really, the 12 hrs the light is on). Once in a while the other comes out (from hiding in a rock or decoration), and they both appear perfectly healthy.

Is a change to a nocturnal pattern typical? Any ideas about what's gone on?

Thanks.

I agree with 1tank. You're very lucky. I have a dojo loach who's a 6 inch monster I got as a deal from my LFS about 5 months ago. He hides in his cave all day and only comes out after dark or when I feed first thing in the morning. He hides, but comes out and swims when I turn out the tank light, so I usually keep evening lights in my living room dim and turn his light out so can get a good look at him now and again.
On an unrelated note, I'd keep any laoch away from planted aquariums. Mine is in a nice palnted community tank and he is heck on my swords and ferns. But he fits in there, so I'll let him stay.

Clown loaches can be extremely moody. Change anything they'll hide for a month. They also hate bright lights. Mine generally won't come out when the main light is on, but are like puppies when the 13 watt dawn/dusk light is on by itself. Ate from my fingers last night.

So, any changes in light or the arrangement of the tank lately?
