i bought 3 clowns for my 55 they were real small bout an inch n a half -a month or so has gone by n two of them are not much bigger - then third 3rd one is growing like crazy!!! he twice as big as the other ones!!! i guess he is the dominate one? they all get along great though- what woul cause the other two to grow slower even if the big one is the alpha one

Same sort of genetics that gave us Mickey Rooney and Kareem Abdul Jabar :D

LOL!!

That's right. I have 2 Cories that are brothers, sisters, whatever and one is 3X the size of the other. It just happens, wouldn't sweat it!! :D

I bought 3 Clown Loaches several weeks ago and one of them has grown much more quickly as well.....

I'm starting to develop a theory about clown loach size, sex, and growth rates, that would rival the distinct classes that are within an insect colony. It would explain why they have never been breed in captivity, their behavior traits, and growth rates. Of coarse the theory is a little far fetched and I'll never be able to prove it. I don't think I'd even believe it myself.

LOL! Sounds interesting!!

Each Clown Loach colony would have -

Guards- these are one's that grow faster and are more territorial, their primary duty is to protect the queen.

Searchers- these are the slow growers, their job is find food. They make a clicking sound when they find a food source that the whole colony can feed on.

The Queen- job is to reproduce.

One of my clown loaches is always trying to swim through the glass. Not bang at it but continually swimming up and down the glass.

That's the loach dance. They do it if they are lonely, just moved into a tank, or if one of the other loaches die. It's pretty cool, kinda like a bee dance!
