I had a group of 4 C-Loaches and they thrived together. I did the same thing with the drift wood ect. To me they didn't seem to hide anywhere you intended them to. Not so much hiding either. I had a peice of wood that was stood upright very open and close to the front. He found a split in the wood that if he entered it from the top he could just squeeze into. Vertically, nose down too the weirdest thing. It was very bright in there too and my shrimp walked all over him, you could see him plain as day too. But he liked it.
Another one, burrowed a hole undeneath a large rock. If you looked real close you could see the top of his tale fin.
Definatily get some more, what I've read, they recommend at least 4 in a group.
Very cool fish.
