ok recently i got a clown loach and hes got lots of energy and has bright colors, but what im concerned is he wont eat the flake food i put in the tank...would shrimp pellets work? Could another clown loach make him happier and bring his appetite back to normal?

with bottom feeders you want to feed them some type of sinking food. me personally I use shrimp pellets with a mix of live food for most of my bottom feeders.

Feed him the shrimp pellets (at night) and see if you cant observe him eating them. If hes not eating in say 3-4 days I would recommend picking live blackworms or some frozen bloodworms (thawed before put in the tank) to try to get him to eat....he should eat one of those without a problem

you need to put more clown loaches in there to make him feel more comfortable (3-4 or more). Then he will eat. I've never known a clown loach to turn down bloodworms though.

You should be feeding all of the foods suggested by XSeaNX anyways, not just to try to get him eating.

vudu is right as well. Clowns are schooling fish, they like groups. What size is your tank BTW? These fish get large.

Don't be fooled by misinformed individuals who will tell you that they only reach a certain size in captivity. When provided with correct conditions, they will reach their adult size of 12" easily.

I have 5 clowns in a 180g community tank. I feed them frozen bloodworms, shrimp pellets, color enhancing pellets, freeze dried tubifex worms, live black worms (very rarely), live brineshrimp, cucumber, leaves of lettuce, and mango slices (occasionally).

I went to the LFS and i said what are u feeding them and he said 'omega one veggie rounds' so i bought it for 9 bux! he said feed it one pellet a day so i dropped it in there and he completely ingnored it. hes still active and his color are normal. maybe hes eating left over foods or sometin in the tank when im not looking. :argue:
