It will hold much more validity if you back up your statements with facts (or even opinions).
Let us learn from your plethora of loach knowledge.

I agree that clown loaches can do well in a community that share similar requirements, however most African cichlids have far different requirements than a clown loach. It is obvious that most aquariums will not perfectly replicate a species natural environment. However since clown loaches are wild caught fish it is even more important to their well being that we attempt to place them in a somewhat ideal environment. I know many people who have kept clown loaches with African cichlids and claim they do well. However I would claim this is a matter of perspective. Your lfs may have some healthy clown in a tank with African cichlids, but unless they have been living in that tank for 25+ years I'm not sure we can determine if they are "thriving" in the aquarium or not.ewurm said:I agree than a rift lake environment is not close to their natural environment, but many tank setups, especially community setups, do not mimic the natural environment of the fish in them. They only try to maintain an acceptable environment for the fish, not a perfect one. I have seen very healthy loaches in an African setup. In fact my lfs has some very large loaches thriving with their African Cichlid show tank.
