Clown Loach

Certainly it would be if the brackish fish move into fresh water seasonally.
Very funny Rallysman. My point is that most would not consider it acceptable to place a wild caught true brackish water fish in a freshwater community aquarium. So why should it be acceptable to place a wild caught clown loach from soft acidic waters into the hard alkaline waters of an African cichlid aquarium.

Umm... Well the guy I got them from pulled them from his Frontosa tank. He told me hes had them for 2 years in that tank. So now they are in my Frontosa tank. I know lots of people with loaches in African tanks. My water is 7.8ph in that tank and gh is 8dkh kh is 9dkh.

I know someone who keeps a 12" oscar in a 30 gallon aquarium. That does not mean it is ideal.

ok

While this article is specifically referring to Malawi cichlids it makes many valid arguments that are applicable to most African cichlids. Clown loaches are wild caught fish that will do best when housed in an aquarium that mimics their native environment. Keeping then in a rift lake style setup is not even close.
Informative, Thanks. Had actually been considering malawi cichlids to go in my 250. :)
