Clown pleco

okay.... is this a panaque maccus clown pleco, or a pekoltia pulcher clown pleco? the panaques eat driftwood, and may take a long time before they come out and try something new. the pekoltia is the omnivore.

It may take him a while to recognize a new item (veggie) as a food. So keep trying--don't just go by one nights' activity (or lack of activity). Change things up. The homemade snail jello recipe is a huge hit for just about all of my bottom feeders now--even my twigs like it! I make one with almost all baby food meat sometimes for my Zebra botia loaches and its practically gone before it hits the bottom of the tank! They start clicking like mad when that drops in on them! They also LOVE Ken's meat wafers/sweet potatoes and frozen peas (just take the skin of the pea off before you throw it into the tank). Canned/frozen green beans are also good. But it did take some time for all my bottom feeders to adjust to a well-rounded diet. Some like this-and some don't so I have to put different things in at different times.

Another helpful thing that some people do is after blanching a veggie is to stick a fork into it and then place it into the tank. That way it is easy to take out the next morning and the food item doesn't go wandering around the tank. I use those little plastic drink mixers sometimes. Anything that will make it easier for you would be helpful to your fish! I also give them bottom-feeder tabs--less activity but I think they get somethings from those that I cannot give them. They are still a hit!
