clown pleco

picked this one up today for $6.99. according to planet catfish,
it only gets 4" and likes wood. anybody else have a clown pleco?
could i just find a few sticks in the yard and pin them under ornaments for him to chew on? i dont use fertilizer or pesticides on the yard..

Is that a coffee cup he is attached to? Cute. I would think it would be better to buy him some driftwood as this is their favorite type. They like wood and algae discs and other than that they are pretty easy. Anyway, hope this helps and nice plec!

DOn't jsut add wood from your back yard. It would rot in your tnak and cause water qualit problems. It needs to be driftwood.

I have a clown pleco that i bought last year for my 15g planted tank. I added him ot the tnak and have maybe seen him 3-4 times since.He spends all his time attached to the driftwood where i can't see him. I have never seen him really move or eat, so he must be doing it at night as he is still alive. He also hasn't grown much in the time i've had him.He is still only 2".

He is ver cute but i dont' think i will be getting another anytime soon. I much prefer my bristlenoses who are always out and about. PLus BN plecos dont' create the saw dust that gets all over your tank like the clown plecos do. I can only imagine the amount of saw dust a larger wood eating pleco makes like a royal or somthing

I bought my clown a few weeks ago. It took him a while to settle in, he would hide behind the heater most the time, only recently did he start coming out. I see him a lot more now, though I don't know if he's eating any algae yet as he spends most his time on the driftwood in the tank. I've also found that my clown really likes my broad-leafed plants as he spends a lot of time on my radican sword too.

My clowns are somewhat shy, but I see more of them all the time. Mine seem to focus mostly on the plant leaves, but certainly seem to put some effort into the rocks and driftwood as well. They haven't produced a lot of sawdust in the few months I've had them, but we'll see.
