Clutch Update

You may try breaking the clutch into smaller pieces. Sometimes although the outside of the clutch is dry, the inner eggs are viable and may still contain little ones trying to get out.
That's not a bad idea. If I wait I might lose whatever snails might be alive. Thanks.

I broke up the clutch, and about 30 baby snails fell into the breeder. No one is moving so I'm assuming they are dead. Msjinkzd said they sometimes take a few hours to move around so right now I'm just going to wait and see. I have 2 pieces of the clutch left (very small) that I'm going to continue to incubate.

i havnt had to wait 3 weeks for any of mine to hatch. mine usually hatch on the tenth day. i have had a clutch hatch on day 8 befor.

So the 2 pieces of clutch I have left are probably no good as well. I looked at clutch photos on www.applesnails.net and I'm pretty sure the problem was not providing enough humidity.

i feel for you. the 1st 4 clutches i had went the same way, and out of the 4 clutches i only managed to get 3 babys. with experience comes more babies. now i get near on 100% babies from each clutch. good luck on the next 1's.

Thanks everyone for the support. I think another sign of the clutch being too dry was that I only had about 30 to 40 babies, and that clutch was a good size. At least I do know that I have a fertile female and male. The female who laid the clutch is still hibernating most of the time. She moves around a little bit and then she's tightly closed again.
