co2 drop checker...

I have a drop checker with 4dkh solution. When I add the ph drops to the solution, it is already dark green, it doesn't start out blue????
Any comments?
I re-tested my 4dkh solution and it is definitely 4degrees of carbonate hardness.
My kH liquid test kit is only about 6months old.
I thought my pH solution was "bad" so I bought a new API liquid pH tester and same thing?!!!!

Anybody had this problem?

I figured out that my drop checker, (even after I cleaned it), is somehow making the solution look green. I tried the solution in a clear tube and it worked ok.

becareful touching the drop check because that can affect the reading. just rinse it out with distilled water and don't touch the inside of the rim.

I cleaned it and rinsed it out well with the 4dkh water and it reads better but still isn't perfect.
I am looking at getting a new one or making one.
There is always something.............

Fill it w/ some white vinegar, shake the snot out of it, rinse w/ hot tap water, refill w/ hot tap water, repeat shaking, rinse w/ DI or RO (if you have any), shaking again, then a couple of rinses w/ very small volumes of your 4dKH solution (w/ some vigorous swirling action in the bulb end) - that should do it if it's glass. If it's plastic, you may have to add an additional repeat of ea. step. You can use a little patch of saran wrap or a baggie to seal the opening while you're shaking it.
