co2 generator

The purple stuff is pvc cleaner. Use it befor the glue. Ask the guy at the store where you buy the pipe and fittings how to use it. Not at all hard to do. Cut the pipe with a hacksaw. Youll prolly have to buy 5ft. of 3 in pipe and 5 ft of 1 1/2 pipe: they dont sell it by the foot. As it stands this isnt any improvement over the pop bottle generator. The idea was to run a fast co2 producing reaction and store the gas. But then ya got to worry about turning the thing into a pipe bomb if the pressure builds too fast ! The drier, on the right, is connected wrong. The output from the gernerator should go to the bottom of the drier. And its output should be at the top. It traps any bubbles escaping from the generator. All the parts are off the shelf at Lowes ot HD.
ok?

30 gal

Yea fer sure. !! One of the reasons i built this was to use the new chop saw.

So what does the drier consist of inside?

Im hoping to do this for my 55 gallon so maybe i should stay with the 3inch since you said it was a tad overkill on your 30gal.. Also what are all the parts you have for the metal pieces in front. Are any of those check valves?

I think a word of caution is in order. The 2L coke bottle generator could do a lot of damage if improperly used. You **** up with this thing and it could kill you. Id almost go as far as saying that a prerequisite to building it is working knowledge of how to built it from the pic. Kinda figure that if you know about plumbing and pressure guages then you will understand the power of compressed air and what it can do. Not to say that the lack of it implies ignorance and incompetance.

Yeah when i was younger i built a potato gun out of pvc pipe, was all good till it blew up in my hand... lol.. But how would the maximum pressure compare to what the pvc pipe is rated to holding? because honestly i sort of would think having a explosion inside it is more pressure than the co2 would generate, but hey i could be wrong. defintely going to do my research before attempting to build this. thats why im asking all these questions which i do apologize for.

Sounds like real good questions to me. Not sure of the exact burst pressure of the components. But I use a piece of 1 1/2 sch 40 pvc as a breaker bar for a 1/2 inch drive ratchet. Im sure its over 200 psi. The 3 in. dwv isnt even pressure rated so fer sure it would be the piece to go first. Prolly a real good idea to drill a hole thru the screw plug and fill it with epoxy putty. I tempted to hook it up the air compressor but I`m not sure how many layers of cinder block Iwould need. Oh yeah, I`m sure you could put enough ingrediants iin it to blow it up if the gas didnt have a way to escape.

drain waste vent : its intended uses.
the epoxy plug would blow out befor the pipe ruptured and vent the gas in a controled matter.
one time use safety valve
