I was fortunate to get an almost new Eheim 2227 from a friend after my Fluval 304 finally died. Even though most people would kill to get this filter for free I am now realizing that the wet/ dry function has killed my CO2 levels. I have read posts on several forums of people "turning off" the wet/dry part and leaving the filter in continuous flow while using the breather tube as a CO2 injector, but no one seems to explain how to do this and what effect this may have on the filter.

I cant answer the turn off the wet/dry part, but i can tell you that I have pushed co2 through my Eheim Pro II 2026 for about 5 years and it still runs great. I could not use a reactor/diffuser so the Eheim does that job for me. The co2 enters the system at the sponged intake of the filter.

I have the same filter on my 40 gal. I think that if you pull a vac on the vent tube (suck on it) until its full of water and plug it up. the wet dry will stop, that is what i was gona try 1st.
