I'm starting to look at this. I'm setting up a 75 gallon tank, and have heard that CO2 is more cost effective than using Excel on a larger tank. Is it possible to use a pressurized tank system, and have the tank supply 2 aquariums with CO2? I have a 55 that I may switch over too.
I admire the look of the tanks with the higher light plants and hope to be able to do that too. I've read through the stickeyed post about CO2...and will have to do so again. DO I understand correctly that if you use the DIY version I don't need the gauges and regulators? I have very high KH and PH..I'm thinking this is a good thing if I understand things correctly. If anyone has a CO2 for dummies site, or even book to refer me it, I'd appreciate it..

A good reference for CO2 is the search engine at the top of the page. Type in CO2 or pressurized CO2 and let the learning begin.

'High' kH is certainly a good thing to have when considering CO2 injection of any type, as it stabilizes the pH and keeps it from crashing. Type in kH and learn about this topic as well.

Yes, you can run 2 or more tanks off the same CO2 cannister. It's very easy to do.
If you are considering this set up, you need to think in terms of going pressurized.
In my opinion, 55's are tough to DIY and 75's are tougher. Trying to do both with DIY CO2 would flat out wear you out. All you need is one tank and one regulator to inject into two tanks and, trust me, you'll be glad you made the investment.

I read the stickied thread at the top...will read again...and again. If running the 2 DIY will be a pain..you can bet I won't do a good job of it, so will definitely look at the pressurized set up. I plan to have the tanks in an L shape, so should be easy to run the tubing.

Running two aquariums off of one CO2 tank is very easy to do.
When you are ready with the equipment somone will be happy to anwer any questions you may have on the subject.
