CO2 Natural Plant System?

Yeah I have that system... it's exactly like DIY as stated above, without the (IMO) hassle of using silicon and waiting for it to cure and what not.

Basically, it's poorman's CO2 for the lazy middleclass guy/gal.

It works fine if you keep up with the quality of the co2 mix.... and remember to dose ferts. But I can keep a healthy low light system without it so I stopped using it for now.

I may go into moderate lighting later...

It says that it comes with activator packets and whatnot. When you run out of those can you go back to the standard 1/4 tsp yeast or does it need to be that activator (which I'm assuming is yeast if not some other similar product)?

i dont even use anything .. I just dump out the water and most of the stuff and leave the gunk at the bottom of my co2 system.. then i refill with water and add sugar again and it always comes back ...

*shrug*

tha activator packet is 'yeast' they add baking soda ot powder(not sure which) as a stabilizer. the idea is that it reduces the acid. yeast, sugar and water= alcohol
alcohol kills the yeast when it reaches a certain level. that baking soda/powder(whichever it is) is supposed to counteract the alcohol so the yeast lives longer.

you can add it if you like or go to a beermaking supply house and get yeast used in making wine..it is a strain of yeast more resistant to alcohol.

the difference in this system is the ladder..it is pretty good at getting the CO2 mixed with the water(it's kind of coll watching the bubbles roll up the ladder and get smaller and smaller :) (there are other methods you can use in the DYI set up.
