Co2 Posioning claimed my new german blue ram : (

GBR's are fragile. If you really want a Ram try a Bolivian Ram instead. They are a lot more hardier.

Even so Bolivian Rams should only be added to well established tanks.

So my gbr was gasping at the surface, does that not say anything relating to o2 loss? I thought they hang out near the bottom of the tank.

generally speaking it is a Sx of CO2 issues but..gasping at the surface can result from other issues..some are water quality issues others can be just about anything in the book.

did you do a large water change after the fishless cycle?
I wondered as the nitrate reading appeared high.

Okay this nitrate reading im giving was around 2 weeks ago from testing. Sorry I was lazy. I just tested today and it reads 10-20 ppm (The color has a tint of orange mixed with a bit of red). I did a large partial water change (50%) before adding fish.

I had very GOOD luck with my GBR female then

I actually cycled my 55 gal with her & maybe 12 Zebra danio's.
She accidently ended up in the LFS's, .99 tank, & I bought them all

She was the HEALTHIEST fish in that tank when I lost everything to the power outage :(

This was the little girl

Go figure...

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss

Yes, you did! Zebra Danios are the way to go with fish cycling. They are about impossible to kill! I know there are a lot of folks on here that are against fish in cycling and that's cool. I respect that.

I respect that choice also

I realize that my luck was totally out of the norm :)
