Co2 regulator keeps leaking..

Well the POS leaked out on me and now my tank is completely empty in 24 hours...

I had a small leak the day before, tightened the crap out of it, that fixed the leak and the gauge still read as being full.

A day later my tank is Completely empty!? I tightened the nut and even used soapy water to check it, it showed as being fixed..

Why does it keep un-tightening itself and wouldn't I be dead or something if a full tank of Co2 leaked out while I was sleeping?
I did sleep for 8 hours with out waking up one time :perv:
 
I took my empty tank and regulator to the welding station and told them about my problem, they checked the nipple and noticed some tiny burrs on the flat surface and said that this might be my problem. So I had them fit me with a new one.. After waiting 15 Min's for them to replace the nipple they call in a second guy to help get the thing off.. He said after 17 years he has never had one he could not just take right off.. So while I wait, I go get my tank filled, the guy at the filling station says that I didn't screw it down tight enough, he says you can tighten them down so much the washer will flatten out and shrivel.. So I go back to the purchase part of the store with that guy to have them STOP trying to remove the valve and it was to late... After 20+ Min's trying to remove the nipple, they stripped it so bad they now have to send my regulator out to get repaired... wth...
I was at the shop for about a hour while they tried to get that nipple off and it just would not come off..

So they had to pull one off the shelve for me to use for a few days until I get mine fixed. They filled my tank for my troubles for free and hooked me up so I wouldn't be left with no Co2 for my plants. The guy at the counted didn't even know you could keeps plants in a aquarium, lol...

Works ok I guess, the pressure valve thing is extremely touchy, to get a bubble rate you only sometimes just need to tap the top of the flow meter to adjust.
Duck tape on my air line to get from the large rubber tube to my Co2 tubing.. Now I realize how much better a planted tank Co2 regulator and solenoid is for aquariums., settling with one of these would be a major pain in the bones.

All this and all I really needed to do was tighten it much tighter than I did...
Got my tank replaced also since there was a tiny burr on the nozzle as well, probably nothing but it eliminated a possibility

Teflon tape is great ... for sealing threads.
This is a machined fit with a seal, that seal should make the well, seal, not the threads.. If teflon tape seals the leak it means that the mechanical seal is not working. this fitting has to be very tight to get a good seal, especially the first time its used.

And its not co2 (carbon Dioxide) that kills people in their sleep, its Co (carbon Monoxide) since there is only 1 molecule of o2 in Co it will bind up in your lungs and suffocate you. Co2, will not bind in the lungs like this..

Care to elaborate on that a bit more? I have used co2, the same stuff that is used in planted tanks to euthanize animals. So yes, it will kill..
