I am looking forward to setting up a 55-75g planted tank and I am not really sure how to set up the CO2 or even if I should set it up. Is there a good video to explain how to set up the equipment? I would also like your opinions on whether or not to use it. I know that some do, and some do not.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.

I'm not sure how outdated this is at 5 years old, but there's some good info here:

Whether you want to use CO2 or not depends on the plants you want to keep and the setup they require. It's going to be essential for any "high light" tank, otherwise algae runs a muck.

With a tank that large, however, pressurized is your only option worth considering.

The need for it depends on the type of plants you want. Also what kind of fish are you going to keep?

What kinds of plants, and what light do you have? How much experience do you have with planted tanks?

To be honest, I haven't even decided what type of plants yet. I have not got the tank or the lights yet. I have been looking at a nice Marineland 75g with stand at petsmart. It comes with an led light, but not a specific plant light, so if I were to stick with that light , then I would be looking at low light plants. If that is the case, then I am guessing I would not require the co2. If I wanted high light plants, I imagine I would need better lighting and co2.
I am not very experienced with planted tanks, but I am having good luck with my 20g set up, which has been going for about 2 months. I do have a plant led light on it and a fluorite substrate. so far , so good. The plants are looking very happy. The fish too.

Until you decide on plants, and what light they will need, I would not worry about the CO2. If it happens that you need, or just want it, look at Green Leaf Aquariums.

As far as setting it up its pretty simple. Regulator goes on the CO2 tank. CO2 proof hose goes from the bubble counter to however you are going to diffuse the CO2. That's the basics. I'm sure there is a youtube vid of how to do it. Or if you get a set up from GLA, then they are more than happy to help and answer any questions.

Thank you for the link and your advice. Once I get closer to starting, (and everyone has to start somewhere), I hope I can ask for your help again.
Couldn't help noticing that your user name is 67chevelle. Do you have a picture of it? We had a 69 chevelle convertible long ago. I wish we had held on to it.

Yeah I've got pics of mine. I'll PM some to you when I get home.

And once you get to the point when you are setting up your tank, give me a shout. I'll help or point you in the direction of someone who can.

Good luck!

I saw that one at my local store the other day. I LOVE the black silicone on the 75 and love the all-wood stand. Real pricey though at ~$499. You can get $50/off if you order online and p/u at the store. Makes it a bit better, but that's still too rich for my blood. LOL. I know black silicone Marinlenad 75's are ~$140-160. Glass tops, $40, 36-48" LED strip light, ~$50. So ~$250 there. I guess $200 for that stand brand-new isn't awful. There it is!! I talked you into it!! LOL.
