I am looking into making my tank a planted aquarium but I want to make sure I have the funds to do it properly. One of the things I am worried about is a proper CO2 system (they can be very expensive). I was hoping that someone here could point me in the right direction of a good but cheap CO2 system. I was looking at the Red Sea CO2 Pro System but I wasn't sure if it was actually any good or not. I don't have a whole lot of experience when it comes to CO2 systems but I am still reading up on it.

are you planing on high light or low light (whats the wattage of the lighting you have?) CO2 isn't necessary but if you do go that rought i would say do it right and don't scimp on it. you will find people who say that the chip ones work well but my main problem with them is that thay have bad needle valves and thus you CO2 flow can fluctuate

Right now I only have a little more than 1WPG but I am working on a custom hood for my tank that will have much more lighting built into it. I am hoping to have at least 3WPG (hoping for around 4WPG) but it all depends on how much room I have on the inside of it once it is done.

Like I said, I am still a little fuzzy using a CO2 system but if I did get that Greenleaf regulator, what else would I need other than the canister?

Its a 54g Corner tank (which is why I am custom making the hood, hard to find a light fixtures for such an oddly shaped tank.) How would I keep the algae down? Reduce the light or the CO2?

well really the canister would be all i think Orando (not his real name owns the store) adds in CO2 tubing so. obviously you need to way to disperse the CO2 what i suggest is a simple PVC CO2 Reactor connected to a canister filter (i'm assuming your running them).

usually reduce lighting and up CO2 (it kills algea) is the easiest way you only need CO2 if you have more then 2wpg and even then is gets confusing with bigger tanks.

Yes, I have a Cascade 1000. With a 54g tank, do you know about how big of a canister I will need? And that DIY reactor is pretty sweet. I will definitely use that should I get this regulator.
