co2 through electrolysis? anyone try it?

yea, been reading alot of old posts about it on other forums... theres an old thread about on Tom Barrs site too...seems it DOES work...many say it works very well for a 20-60 gallon tank...but the initial price and the price of replacement blocks kinda outweigh the good points of the system.

Don't think I am going to need an o2 system..but IF I do... I may look into more... my tank is in my living room...and I will not have a pressurized 02 tank in my house with a 4 and a 2 year old running around...haven't found a child lock they can't break into yet, and putting a padlock and a locking hasp on my stand just aint worth it!

which is why I posted it...for discussion.

Crazy thing is that NASA has been using similiar methods to produce c02 for many years now.

Heres an old thread from TB's forum about the unit:

http://www.barrreport.com/co2-aquat...-aquarium-products-carbo-plus-co2-system.html

again...in fact it does work..granted not as well as gas at a much higher price..but there were no reports of water chemistry changes that I've found and when gas and diy are not options (as in my case) then its better than nothing...and I'm not saying I'm rich and money is no object...but honestly..it's $200...big deal... if it will do aything positive for my plants and completly elimintates the dangers of co2 then it's worth it, to me at least.

this is all just for discussion..not trying to argue or fight anyone over this, personally I think I will be fine without any o2 anyway...just thought it was cool to discuss.

and no thanks... I don't need to buy a bridge... didn't realize bringing up discussions deemed you an instant fool.

i would stay away from it, for the same price you can get a nice 5lb tank pressurized setup.

That's what I was thinking. My LFS sells a full setup: Milwaukee reg/solenoid/needle valve/bubble counter and a filled co2 tank for $199 and that's with their mark up. If you hunt around or buy used on craigslist or something, you can definitely save money and go pressurized.

Thats a really good deal, especially for a LFS. Does that include a diffuser/tubing? Thats exactly what i paid and i got all my parts seperately.
