80 gallon, mod. planted, with lightcutting amber/brownish water. 3X40 w diffrent spectra etc ect blah blah. Had 2 Fluval 405's w/limited spraycontrol. Exchanged one for an Acuaclear 500 hob, DIY Co2... My Vegas Rock tap is mixed w/RO plus PEAT to get nice Apisto-Cardinal-Cory friendly H2O....But, I never know the exact solution of C2O....or how much it will crash my soft unbuffered blackwater ph @ nite. So here is what she does, mock me if u will....I drape a section of filterfloss across the 500 outlet, controlling the splashfactor (woefully un-scientific as it is) and by these archaic devices I manage to set my unpredictable ph at 6.6-6.8, also knowing the co2 is gassing out to a tolerable range.Come morning I slide the filterfloss over the overflow, creating a calm but yet moving watersurface that will nicely balance oxygen exch with co2 retention och a stable ph of 6,6. LOW TEC, YEAH, but I seem too keep it all in check by "splashfactor" and diligent watertesting. MY most imp test being fishobservation and pearly plants....mAYBE I just need to spend more money on systems checking these things.....and more time playing VEGAS...:confused
If all is well, why should I upgrade? Thank's Gluon Girl
