Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid Question...

Alright I have decided that I am going to have a mildly planted heavily wooded Amazon Acid Pool biotope 29 gallon aquarium with

1 Male 2 Female Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids
and 10 Neon Tetras

I have read that the female Dwarf Cichlids can get mildly aggressive toward the male while raising fry, is a 29 gallon good enough to were he can get away easily??? (It is going to have quite a bit of wood and some Green Cobambas, Dwarf Amazons Swords, and Amazon Sword Plants)

I would think a 29 would work just fine, just make sure you have some sort of cave for the females...half a coconut shell with a hole in it big enough for her to swim through would work great.

A 29g tank will be fine, but Apistogramma cacatuoides is not a blackwater fish. They prefer water that is neutral to moderately acid, and do not do particularly well in very acidic tanks. In the wild, specimens that are caught in more acidic biotopes are always in relatively poor condition.

I stacked up lots of slate when I bred them and it provided tons of hiding spots. Never had problems with aggression. I had 3 females and 1 male in a 29g.

Cockatoos form harems, you might want to consider getting one male and two females.
