I have a 10 gallon aquarium. I had 6 Harlequin Rasboras. 5 days ago a got a Spotted Cory. On Monday I saw one of the Rasboaras was missing .. I assumed it was a suicide fish because I found it behind the tank. Just this afternoon I noticed another Rasbora was missing. I found it wedged behind the filter with his tail fins nibbled off.

When I first got the Cory, he was very active and liked to play in the bubbles once he got used to the tank. Lately he's been hiding and not playful at all.

Is the Cory scaring/killing the Rasbora? I haven't witnessed any kind of agression from either species toward each other. Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks!

Can cories even inflict that kind of damage on another fish? I thought their specialized mouth parts made that kind of behavior extremely unlikely?

I"m not sure if the cory is capable of hurting the other fish, but cories are really supposed to be kept in groups of 3 or more. Maybe the Rasboras are dieing due to illness and the rest are just nibbling on the dead ones?

I've never heard of an aggressive cory, ever. I think it's probably more likely that one of your rasboras has taken to bullying the others around when you're not looking, but then, I'm not at all familiar with rasboras to say for sure. Do they get territorial at all? Maybe one of them hit puberty or something. O_o
