OK, the picture above was my final arrangement of the first setup, still with biological filter and thin to medium gravel bed and a small skimmer. Because of such "old fashion" technics the tank started to have increasing nitrates and phosphates.
The new build-up has a fine-grained DSB and moreover I reduced the number of animals; harbour worms (Spirographis spallanzanii) have been easily victims of small crabs and of Asterina gibbosa, known as vegetable-eater sea-star..... so we are discovering something different from what is written in books. At the moment I don't have good photos of the new DSB setup, but I'm building a new tank a bit greater; according to new advances in mediterranean aquaria keeping I'm going to use a DSB and a big skimmer, and a more powerful chiller. We feel cold water requires most powerful skimmers than in tropical tanks, it in't?

KingWinterGreen thanks for all the links and sites. I will hopefully be starting one up this summer as this is when I start going to the beach more. I know of several worms that I am intersted i finding. One bit my foot as a young girl and I remember the pain like it was yesterday, however the color was stunning.

Hey, Rossigeo... Does anyone in your Mediterranean aquarium organization ever talk of setting up a supply of livestock to the US market? Or a source for trade?
Thanks again for the great post.
