coldfish stocking...

wow! meanthetanks, your goldfish are stunning! i don't think i have ever seen such gorgeous fancies. i have seen a ton of goldies, and yours are really remarkable. whereever did you get them?

i do see the little orange spot on your lemon goldfish. it is probably either a tumor or lymphocitis. neither is treatable, but fortunately, neither usually causes further illness. he might look a little strange, but keep an eye on the "zit" and as long as it doesn't grow very large or pop open, he should be fine.
 
well,good news on Sunnys zit,he came racing to the side of the tank this morning with more energy than hes had in a long time,and its gone,completely,maybe a tiny bit of a swelling,but othe rthank that hes back to normal. the goldies came from various places,the 2 biggest were given to me with a tank so green you could barely see the fish,they just sat on the bottom and never swam,it was chronic ots and it took a while to get them healthy, the gravel vac actually blocked while trying to remove the scum from the bottom,the fluval 4+ filter was running though no water could actually get through so it was just running itself to death,and the smell was unbelievable,but now they are happy healthy and swim almost constantly,and when their old owner comes round she comments on how she would love to have them back-i dont think so!!!

man, what a rescue story! well they look great and its good to hear Sunny is doing well. sometimes little nubs pop up like that - i've had them on tail fins before. the best guess is that they're caused by a virus, but fortunately it isn't terribly contagious and doesn't cause any damage other than making funny looking little nubs.

when i first got the tank home,it stunk out the whole of our downstairs,it took days to remove the stench and i considered gifting the fish to the local fish store,and pulling down the tank,so pleased i didnt. you can still see sunnys zit,well,where it was,its a slightly different colour if you look closely but im no longer worried about him. its pwc day today so im going to get off and get them sorted.
