What species of Crayfish would be good for an outdoor pond, that would survive the winter in KY?

have u considered using the ones you can catch in a local creek. they are already acclimated.
i caught a few in a local creek here that looked brownish-green, after they spent a few days in clean aquarium water the brownish-green film washed off and they turned out to be blue, red, and, green.
kept them for a few months, but, got rid of them when they ate all my glass catfish.

What else do you have in the pond? There might be compatibility issues. Or are you planning a cray only pond?

It's actually for a friend. He doesn't currently have any fish cause he was worried about die off during the winter. He's got some pond snails and ramshorn snails in there right now with some plants. I'm not sure on the specifics. I was looking for more critters for him that could survive the KY winter.

hi, James,
mostly crayfish can stand for cold winter, based on ur pond around have enough space let them hide & dig hole, NA crays mostly can stand at tank lowest to 7C, outdoor they hide in caves to pass the cold winter!

Thanks for the info! :D
