I just picked up 2 convicts from a tank where a few were looking battle weary, but the younger ones looked ok. I got a female and male about 3 inches or so the male just a bit smaller than the female. The coloring is light grey with some broken darker striping.
The female is reddish on the abdomen.
I'm wondering if the colors will darken and improve with age, or, are these fish just poorly bred?
I only paid 4.99 for both fish but they are cute and not shy at all. The male comes up to my finger and plays a game if I tap the glass he backs off like he's afraid and then comes back out of curiosity.
This morning their chasing each other and eating like pigs.
