Colorful Convict

Beautiful colors on your female. Do you use color enhancing foods? I get those colors out of my male and my female also. I use color enhancing foods and it never fails to get a comment @ the irridescence and the purple eye's.The blues and greens are really a neat sight when captured in the right lighting.

I feed these guys Aqueon Cichlid Flakes. The male also takes Aqueon Cichlid Sticks, and they both snack on Hikari Blood Worms. I think the only color enhancing food I feed is Hikari Cichlid Gold, but my Oscar is the only one that eats that. :)

i have seen wild caught convicts with the same coloration and different tones. beautiful. also, she may have some honduran red point in her linniage somewhere but beautiful specimen!!!! i need to get a good female for my male :(

Funny this thread should surface... She colored up a week ago and I came home to more eggs yesterday.

Here's a shot of dad with eggs (on the rock by his head) and a couple fry from previous spawn.

Thank you :)

The first pictures were taken with a Polaroid i533. That last shot was taken with a Canon SX10 IS. It was my Christmas gift to myself from myself... I'm still trying to figure it out.

my convicts have some honduran red point blood so they had the green and blue sheens. But still amazing!

all of the extra coloring was probably just her breeding dress I have a pair of pinks and when she gets in the mood all kinds of colors pop up this of course is true with most if not all of the central american cichlids when they are in breeding dress you can hardly tell that they are the same fish

The coloration is pretty common....The ones that are'nt as colorful as the one in this thread are just that not as nice looking. You have a very beautiful Convict Cichlid don't let anyone tell you it is a hybrid they are just jealous theirs isint that beautiful.
