In the begining they can, but a columbian shark is a catfish and will grow to over a foot and will eat anything that will fit in its mouth. My two smaller ones would eat live feeder fish. They also require a very large tank to properly take care of them (150 Gal+). If you were going to keep them they would do better in a large fish/predator tank. I think they would go well with a panther grouper.
I've seen them with large Moray Eels at a restruant, and they also had a big yellow tang, yeah it was werid. Still confused about it... the waitress said it has always been in there with them.
I might be wrong about this but aren't they more toxic than lions? I read somewhere that some of the saltwater cats are really poison . If you get stuck by one of their barbels it could be pretty bad news. Not sure if yours is or not just thought that it might be worth mentioning.

The number one problem here is the use of common names. Columbian Shark names about 3-4 different freshwater/brackish "sharks" but I am assuming you are talking about the Black Finned Shark (there is a current topic on them in the brackish section to verify that is the right fish-don't have sci name right now) commonly sold as freshwater/brackish fish? If so they can do saltwater yet like others have said they grow to well over a foot and have big mouths. I would say they would do well with predatory fish but not aggressive fish like Triggers and Puffers as they would chew off the barbels.
Max-you are talking about an entirely different fish I believe but I have never heard they were worse than a lion. I'm pretty sure they are the equivalent of a lion however. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.
