I am both sad and glad to be forced to find a new home for Sprocket, son of my original comet, Napoleon. Many of you followed his growth from eyeballs and a tail, all the way up to the robust 6 inch fish he is today. I will soon be getting a new fish of a rather unusual line, and I need to make room. Plus he's been trying to spawn with his mother. :headshake2:

Here is Sprocket:

Sorry, these are pretty poor shots. I snapped them quickly last night after a water change, so the water is rather cloudy and hence the crummy shots. I'll update this thread tomorrow with some proper shots.

Here are the nuts and bolts:

Date of hatch: 12-29-07
Length: 6 inches
Coloration: Metallic orange with white tipped fins
Feed: Omega One pellets (staple), supplements include romaine lettuce, parsley, spinach, bloodworms, brine shrimp
Tank History: 120 gallon. Filtered by 1 Rena XP3, water changes 50% bi-weekly. Eight goldfish, including parents. Treated recently with praziquantel for flukes. All fish are healthy now, checked out clean recently with scrape & scope on fish and feces.
Parents: Napoleon and Alexei. Both are standard comets, orange with white fins. Napoleon is 17 inches at 4 years old. Alexei is closer to 14 inches at about two years old. Both healthy and feeding well.

I would love for Sprocket to go to a good home in a nice pond or a tank of at least 100 gallons. He's going to be a BIG fish. He has a very thick body for such a young fellow.
I read once a quote from a breeder who mentioned that the best way to tell whether a young goldfish would grow large was to look at the distance between the eyes. If the face was in proportion but the eyes were wide-set, the fish had the potential to grow to a really huge size. Well, Sprocket has a big fat forehead, so there you go.
He's going to have his father's giant fins, too, I can see that already.

He's free to a good home, but I am asking you to pay shipping. He'll be shipped professionally in a breather bag with a heat pack, insulated in styrofoam and plenty of cushioning. We'll coordinate on when to ship, depending on the weather where both you and I are located. I can use FedEx or UPS to ship, whichever you like, and I'll take paypal to cover the cost. Overnight ONLY.

PM me if you are interested. :)

gee, I'd take Sprocket in a heartbeat if I had the space for him :(

He looks gorgeous and I'm probably not 50 miles from you. It'd crush me to have to let go of a beaut like him.

They are beautiful

Makes me wish I had a huge tank.:) Your goldies are just gorgeous. What great pictures! They are just lovely fish.:goldfish:

What a gorgeous fish! I'd love to take him, but I've already got 3 commons (4 to 5 inches) in a 55. He's such a beauty and I hope you get a wonderful home for him!
