common pleco + dojo loaches and cories?

true, but who in their right mind would keep their house at 64? I've never seen anyone that had their thermostat set at less than 72.

Now you are just being silly. No one is suggesting to keep the air conditioning set at 64F. However letting it get to 68F or so max is better than permanently keeping at 74F. The fact is that they are cold water fish and the others are tropical fish. They would do best kept in separate tank where you could keep them both at their appropriate temperatures instead of keeping them at there extremes.

Keeping it at 68 ain't a possiblity for me. I live with my parents and my mom has multiple sclerosis and can't handle the lower temperatures. I just asked at loaches.com again, and the response there was that my temps should be ok as long as I don't go much over that.

Heh, seeing that you're from Ohio though explains the whole keeping the house at 68 suggestion, my cousins up there think 68 is swimming weather... while I'm bundled up in a jacket the moment it drops below 70. :)
