Community centerpiece fish.

I also recommend the apisto and gourami!

gouramis, rams, maybe angels

Jayhawk... what cichlids have you kept that like to hide????

Quite a few SA and riverine African cichlids can fall under the "hide alot" label - L. curviceps, L. dorsigera, Kribs, J. transcriptus (Tanganyikan), T. maculipinnis (CA), rainbow cichlids (CA), N. anomola - those are the one's that come to mind. I've been keeping cichlids a long time, and some are hiders, some aren't, and sometimes it depends upon the individuals of a species. It's often the ones who love caves the most that hide out...but that's just their nature.

Agreed... I've gone for weeks at a time without seeing my nannacara anomala. Many times, I have thought it was dead- I don't even see this guy at FEEDING TIME- not even when I feed them bloodworms!!!

When angels are raised with small fish like neons, they don't eat them when they grow up. Now, if you took adult angels and put them in a tank with neons you'd probably hear them screaming "BUFFET!!!"

Never trust any fish, regardless of species, with any other fish small enough to fit in its mouth.. Very few larger fish, even dainty large ones like Angels, get to be big by skipping meals. Also, never forget that just because a fish can't fit another fish in its mouth, doesn't mean it won't do a taste test of that too-big for a mouthful fish...
