Community cycle finished in 1 week?

I had my 29g setup with no fish for a about 2 weeks, water was crystal clear. I have no test kit ATM so I can tell you nothing of its levels. I got fish a little over a week ago (2 mollies and 1 albino rainbow finned shark) 2 days after their entry to the tank it started cycling. I woke up this morning and the water is crystal clear? I am going to take a sample to the LFS toget it tested. but what could cause such a fast cycle? I have done blind cycles before and they took 1-2 months...

Just because the water is clear, doesn't mean the tank is cycled.

Expect it to take 4-6 weeks to completley cycle. Until then, do plenty of water changes.

If you don't have test kits yourself, then you should be taking water samples to the LFS very frequently for testing.

The clarity of the water that you describe is probably only to do with the remaining dust from your substrate. Once the mechanical filter deals with that the water will be clear.

It has no bearing whatsoever on the chemical parameters of the water, which is the ony way you can tell whether it is cycled.

my gravel is old... does it still have dust in it?

You're gonna stir up some stuff when you move it about. Even if it's not new gravel, it will still contain waste products and general crap. Which is why we vacuum every water change...well, we try!
