I have a 100 gallon (380liters) tank with a home-made sump filter which includes ceramic, carbon and cotton filtering materials. Because i could not properly commit myself i currently only have 3 fancy gold fish which have grown to about 5 inches (12cm).

Now i have the needed time to properly take care of it, so i gave it a good clean-up and and installed 2x300W heaters and set temperature to 76 °F(25 °C). I would like to set up a community of mainly tetras with some guppies, dwarf gouramies etc, however i do not have heart to give goldfish away. Can i keep them in this community tank?

goldfish are coldwater fish, mizing the 2 would cause problems, if you heat the tank, the goldies will fun into problems, and if you use no heater, the other fish will run into problems

Yeah, I'm not so sure things like tetras and gouramies would do very well in a tank like that with fancy goldfish. Maybe you could think about some other coldwater species? I think dojo loaches and white cloud minnows do okay in the same range of temperatures as goldfish, but would advise that you double check in the species profiles to be sure.

Yes.

Will all the fish be healthy and happy?
No.

At 76º, the goldies will be starting to show stress. If you keep it cool enough for the goldies, your tropicals will be stressed. Stress will leave the fish open to diseases. You're just asking for headaches down the road.

You bought the goldfish, so they're your responsibility now. Get them some coolwater (some say coldwater, but that makes me think of icebergs) companions and have an awesome temperate community tank.

I know that weather/dojo loaches love cooler water temps. They are very personable too and love to be in groups. If I were you, thats what I would go with. You would not regret it.
