I bought a 96 W kit from AH supply and I want to put it in the old light fixture I have. It is a regular plastic aquarium light fixture that came with the hood. Can the ballast be mounted on the inside of the fixture? I'm not sure if there will be enough room. The orignal fixutre has the ballast mounted in the case. It also has a vent over the ballast to let out the warm air so I'm like to put it there if possible.

Also, are there any links showing how these kits are put in the fixtures from orginal lights? The directions with the kit are very general.

One last question, I would assume that the ballast is installed first? There are two sets of directions (ballast and reflector) and it doesn't say which to use first.

I've done several AH kits. You should ask them for their free instruction sheet on converting light strips. Also Kim at AH Supply is extremely helpful. Just drop an e-mail. Depending on the space you available inside the unit, you may have to mount the ballast on the outside back of the fixture. I mount my ballasts in the cabinet under the tank. Play around with positioning the ballast and reflector. You may have to mount the ballast first to get things to fit inside. Don't drill any holes or cut any wires until you are satisfied. AH Supply is a great lighting system. You won't regret the work.
