The TOM filter is rated at 160 gph.

One thing about the cartridge based internal filters (Tetra and Grreat Choice) is that they need to sit with the top above the water level of the aquarium so that gravity will force the water through the cartridge. It may be a problem with the hood.

For tank that size the AT10 would be a good size and is just the right amount of flow for a tank that size.

I have used the Fluval and the Tom nano internals and they both work very well so long as you clean or change the filter approximately weekly.

If you read the descritption, the TOM I linked to says 45gph, and the text says it's the mini model for tanks up to 6 gallons...not sure why it says 160gph in the title.

You're right on about cartridge based internal filters having to sit above the water level. That's another reason (besides the size) I decided against them, although in my case we keep the water level a bit low as the ADFs need to come to surface for air..... I do like the AT10. The price (amazon) seems a bit high......... Wish there are other (cheaper) sources..... I also am interested in Azoo palm filter HOB. Its narrow width might just be right for the cutting in the hood.......
