Companions for comets/shubunkins in pond?

2 weeks is a good target for QT. If coming out of the feeder tank at petsmart, then def. 2 weeks.

Other fish can be Wakin and Watonai goldfish, bullhead cat, maybe a Channel cat, but will probally need to be moved or eaten in a few years.

The above link is to a page listing all the species found in fresh water in Washington. I'd suggest looking into some sunfish like the bluegill, or some dace or suckers. Suckers can get to a nice size and they have a nice sinuous movement. Oh, and shiners, which are smaller than suckers and come in nice shiny and bright colors.

There are small operations which sell some of these fish and also hatcheries which will sell to individuals. If you are interested, I'm sure you can find some source of native fish. Oh, bait and tackle shops often have shiners and minnows, a few inches long and many of which will grow out several times larger given the chance! There's a good, cheap source for you!
