Comparing Cichlid Sizes.

the biggest fish ive ever owned was my Red Devil, he maxed out at about 7" before I had to get rid of him cause I only have a 55gal.

But, anyone who lives in the Swansea, Massachusetts area, take a trip to a store called Pets First, you WONT regret it!

Im telling you, they have quite a bit of aquariums, and many big cichlids and shovelnose catfish, and they are always getting new fish. They also have some fish that stores like petco/petsmart never even carry. So check it out!

The biggest cichlid that I have seen live anywhere was a 2 foot male managuense that a friend of a friend of mine had. It was part of a breeding pair. The female was about 10 inches, and the male was twice her size. THe teeth on that Managuense were like the size of nail tips.

At 2 feet it probably was not a jaguar. Jags rarely exceed 14 inch in captivity, and the largest on record to my knowledge is 16.5 inches and was caught in flordia. I have been to alot of cichlid shows and have seen and owned alot of jags. The largest I have ever personally seen was about 15.5 inches. I have owned no less then 8 fully mature male jags and have never got one over 14.5 inches. I was more likely a dovii. Female dovii do not get over 10 inches or so where as males can hit 2 feet with no problem.

2 foot managuense no way! not even a chance. u must of been hallucinating.

Wouldn't the most common aggresive cichlid have to be a Red Devil, or Green Terror? By common, I mean one you can go to the PetsMart and buy. And I mean at that age too. Obviously a 12" Oscar is probably more aggressive than a 2" Green Terror, espicially as Oscars become more aggressive as they get older.
