Compatability in a 55g

I'd geet a third angel to help spread out the aggression. Are the tetras neons? if so the angels will eat them. The platies will provide a good supply of fry for the angels. I think it will be a good looking tank.

Thanks for your help! I don't know what I would do without this forum! I am asking as many questions as possible to avoid some pitfalls <G>.

The third angel will hep b/c the dominant fish will pick on the lesser, maybe even till it harms or kills it, now if there are 2 more to spread the abuse they each will get a little instead of it all. now if you have 4,5,6,7, ....it gets spreed even more. But keep in mind tanks size will determine how many of any type of fish you can have. The angels will eat any fish that will fit in its mouth, neons are a natural food for angels. So if the Tetras are large enough or will get large enouth then they should be ok.
if you put the angles and neons in at the same time, the angles wolnt eat the neons.

nope. I know from first hand experience that Angels eat neons no matter what.
Platys are more calmer than sword tails in my opinion so they should be fine. As for the teras, I thinks silver tipped, serpae, and glow-light are all good choices that I like. But as long as they are bigger than neons you should be fine for whatever tetra yo want.

Thanks guys for the info! Just kidding about beating me up. I appreciate your advice. What if I replace the Angels for Dwarf Gouramis? I have been reading, asking, and researching. The more you read, sometimes the more you get confused. Luckily, I jumped the first hurdle..........forget about what is "picture perfect". Stick with the basics to start! I have to look at fish like I would look at my neighbors. If my neighbor signed for a UPS delivery and I cut his grass.........We would get along.......etc.

I had some small angels and they didn't eat the neons (yet), but they did seem to be eating a lot of guppy fry and harrasing the bigger guppies so I swapped them out for a couple of honey gourami which seem to fit in a bit better so far... The 50g is mostly a tetra tank (17 asst tetra) with a couple of guppies and two honey gourani now. I put the other two (smaller) honey gourami in the 16g tank with the half grown guppies as they seemed a bit nervous in the bigger tank.

I've got an angel, some neons, platys and swordtails in my tank - the neons don't seem to be in any danger, but the tank is very densely planted and there are often fry for the angel to hunt.
As for swords or platys nipping the angel, I haven't experienced that personally; my fish are all pretty calm. The swords do tend to peck at my apple snail more than the other fish, so maybe they are a little nippier than platys. I wouldn't worry about an angel being able to defend itself against swords though, unless it's very small and the swords are large.
